Corcoran Story - Chapter 9 - Nellie

Daddy is no longer with us.

It's still difficult, even though we've been braced for it.

He'd been playing chess with Ingrid and just as he stood up to come to the dinner table

He was gone.

From the Grim Reaper's fist pump and happy dance, you'd think Daddy had been eluding him for decades!

And I suppose he had.  Cancer notwithstanding, he made it to 124 and lived each of those days to the fullest.

As a backyard astronomer who discovered 17 stars, a planet and a satellite.

As a chess legend,

Master painter

And master cook.

We shan't mention his fishing skill.

Ingrid, of course, is devastated.

Daddo was her favourite person since the day she was born.

Her grief is causing her to act out in all sorts of ways.  First off, she's shaved off all that beautiful blonde hair!

She's working out like a woman possessed.

She's adopted an outlandish mode of dress.

And she's gotten a tatoo!

She has the notion that it happened because she persuaded him to work out with her the day before he died.

When he'd never worked out before in his life.

It's not getting through to her that he'd been on borrowed time since he was 92.

There was a good turnout for his wake.

Including an ill-mannered crasher.

We scattered his ashes in the bee garden with Mother; thinking of them together again at long last makes all of this a bit easier.  Godspeed, Daddy!

  1. I like how you do the reminisce scenes---very poignant! Poor Ingrid, she is taking his death pretty hard!

  2. Thank you, Nirar. They really were close, from the time she was a baby on.

  3. =( I knew it was coming with my last comment just a few minutes ago since I'm catching up. *cry*

I also love the memories shots, very sweet way to remember the passing of a beloved sim. 124 days, wow. I don't think I've had one make it that far ever!!

Also, weirdly, I like what Ingrid has done. She's so different now!

    1. I'd been itching for Ingrid to grow up ever since rolling her generation.
